Baptism

baptism in ballymore

Baptism in Sacred Heart Church, Ballymore

By Baptism your child becomes a member of the parish community. Through the grace of this sacrament your child will share in the very life of God Himself.

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated in the Cathedral every weekend, on Saturdays at 4.30pm and on Sundays at 1.00pm.  Note that on the 1st Saturday of the month Baptisms take place in Ballymore Church at 4.30pm.

If you live outside the Parish of Cobh please get a Letter of Permission from your Parish Priest to have your child baptised here.

A member of the Parish Baptismal Team will call to you a few days before the Sacrament of Baptism

Application forms are available from the Parish Office.  Due to the high numbers of baptisms as well as large groups attending we have had to restrict the number of baptisms to a maximum of  4 at any ceremony. Please book as early as you can to avoid disapppointment if you have a specific date in mind.

Baptism is a great gift to give to your child. It welcomes them into the parish faith community founded on Christ’s love for us all. It is with great joy that all are invited into the family of the parish through baptism.

Each year about 200 baptisms take place in the parish. We are delighted with the opportunity this provides to meet with the families concerned and we work hard to ensure that the ceremony itself will be both relaxed and memorable for all.

Please note -on the day of Baptism

As a courtesy to the priest and the other families please aim to arrive 15mins before the start of the ceremony.

PARKING is available in the car park above the Cathedral and on the hill above. Parking is very restricted on the Cathedral grounds
